A Few of My Favourite Things…

Hola Chicos!

Today is my first blog post and since I am currently living in Madrid. Bienvenido de Madrid!

I thought I would begin by sharing a few of my favourite things about Madrid.

1. Shop assistants greet you with a friendly ‘Hola or Buenas dias’ and actually provide good old fashioned service.
2. Only tourists eat or drink coffee whilst walking along the street. The Spanish have this theory… if you need a coffee then you probably need to sit down and take a break. So why not act all Spanish and stop in a cafe and enjoy that coffee? Sit down drink from a real cup and take 5 minutes from your day to relax and be calm. I love this theory and its saving the environment too!
3. Madrid is not a nanny state like Australia is. If repairs on the footpath are not completed that day… A crate and orange warning tape are thrown over the hole in the ground until tomorrow when the work will be completed. In Australia the surrounding square kilometer would be cordoned of for fear that someone might injure themselves

4. The Spanish just adore their dogs and children. However, frustratingly, two year olds and dogs speak and understand Spanish better than I do. Seriously I’m beginning to doubt my ability to learn this language.

Wish me luck with my Spanish.

Adios chicos y mil besos xxx
