Goals
1. Learn to speak Spanish.
I did hope to leave Spain with qualifications to allow me to teach Spanish in Australia, but having lived here for 4 months I would happily settle for conversational Spanish. Seriously, if another person says ” Oh you will pick it up Spanish is easy to learn” they had better be good at ducking because I cannot be sure just how I might respond…to nod and agree would be diplomatic, not one of my best traits, although as an expat its part of my current very steep learning curve.
2. See as much of Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece as possible.
If I leave Europe in a few years having only visited these countries I will not be unhappy.
3. Avoid junk food and JERF (Just Eat Real Food).
Spain is considered the food bowl of Europe, so there really is no excuse.
4. Drink wine because its delicious and know when to stop. Spaniards do this so well and wine is part of sharing a meal. Australians drink to get drunk and that is so not COOL.
5. Walk Walk and then walk some more.
Out with painful, unenjoyable exercise routines. Use it or Lose it baby!
6. Enjoy the people I’m with.
Listen because you might be surprised what you learn.
7. Stressless – I choose to have less in my life than have stress in my life!
8. Be RELAXED and KIND – a good combination in any person!
